Stories worth
preserving.
Photography that feels something.
From everyday moments to extraordinary places.

THE PEOPLE MAKE THE PICTURE.02 / THE PERSON BEHIND THE LENS
Hello, I’m Paul.
Call me Bobo.
A photographer, a storyteller,
and an observer of the everyday.
I’m Paul Wambugu Kinyanjui, founder and lead photographer at Bobo Photography Ltd, based in Nairobi, Kenya. My work is rooted in documentary and humanitarian storytelling, with a practice that reaches into commercial, corporate, and personal photography.
Whether I’m documenting a community, photographing a space, or following a wedding day, I look for the human connection. The goal is simple: thoughtful images with a story to tell.
My documentary photographs have been published by Northern Rangelands Trust and VSO International. In 2022, a photograph I created of NRT’s Pate Island octopus project received the top award in USAID’s Locally Led Development Initiatives Photo Contest. VSO also featured my work and reflections in its 2024 photography retrospective, highlighting stories of resilience along the Kenya–Ethiopia border and among Nairobi’s waste-picking communities.
